about

This is the Panacea 2020 remaster - It’s funny that all this racial awareness stuff is going on, I’ve kinda made my career off of it. I’ve always felt being a member of a marginalized race helped promote art throughout history. Tends to be oppression helps make timeless work (pressure makes diamonds). Eddie HK & I started working on “Panacea” in 2010 and we released it on Juneteenth 2011. We talk about a common theme in hip hop; toughness, bravado, thug life. But I challenged Ed to go deeper and highlight the systems in place that make us feel we have to flex every chance we get. He did a brilliant job showing his perspective from childhood and what made him get to a point he had to bring down a brother just to get somewhere. We got this way because of something that happened long before us, but we vowed to make positive music going forward to hopefully help unite our fragmented race. I love everyone and all lives matter, but we wanna make sure we let all those marginalized know that you matter just as much! You can accomplish anything regardless of your background. Just cause you don’t see your face everywhere doesn’t mean you don’t belong there. You could be that face! You could change the game! I produced all of it. Standouts are “Chuckin’ Wood” & “Bread”, the former a geico commercial edit the latter a Jamaican infused tale of dreams deferred (I’m on both). “WWII” is a sweet sweet sounding story of domestic disputes. “Let Me Walk” is one of the best things I’ve been apart of. Ed recounts his childhood, which frankly is kinda sad, but filled with hope. Always have hope! Peace & Love be safe! 💯
